SEASON 1

The show is based on the comic book series with the same name but is very similar to the TV show Sabrina the Teenage Witch we all loved many years ago.

The show starts off with Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka), a young enthusiastic half witch-half mortal, living life to it's fullest with her family, friends and school in the mortal world.

But as her 16th birthday nears, she has to choose between the witch world which she shares with her Aunts Hilda (Lucy Davis) and Zelda (Miranda Otto) and the mortal world which she shares with her boyfriend and friends.

Within the first 3 episodes, Sabrina chooses not to sign the Dark Lord's Book of the Beast and not to attend The Academy of Unseen Arts, aka witch school.

With Sabrina refusing to sign the book at her dark baptism and for lying to the Dark Lord, she and her aunts are summoned to court.

She seeks the help of a mortal lawyer who sold his soul to the devil to be the greatest lawyer of all time. He decides to defend Sabrina in court.

Long story short, the Dark Lord bargains with Sabrina.

She is allowed to have the mortal world, but at the same time, she is required to attend the Academy of Unseen Arts.

Sabrina then starts attending the school and immediately has to deal with being bullied by other witches. She is literally in bullying hell, poor girl. These girls feel that Sabrina will betray them just like her father betrayed for a mortal woman. If she survives their harrowing of death, that is.

But of course she survives, she is a Spellman after all!

The Spellman's and the deceased children from previous harrowings decide to get revenge on these mean witches and it was just enough to stop it. Too bad it is then revealed that Father Blackwood, the dean of the school, possessed those girls to treat Sabrina that way.

Sabrina accidentally releases a sleep demon her first night back home. Smh.

This demon was trapped in a puzzle type device by Sabrina's father and was given to Father Blackwood.

The demon, named Batibat, lucked out on this opportunity to get revenge on the Spellmans'.

Once released from the puzzle, Sabrina and her aunts "lock" the house so that the demon can't leave.

Batibat tortures the family, in hopes of being told the spell to unlock the house and be free'd, until Sabrina is awoken and can banish their tormentor.

Sabrina really proved her strength and bravery.

I could go on and on, but really my reviews are just my opinion.

So what's my opinion, you ask?

  • I am enjoying the show so far.

  • I love that the story is similar to the older version Sabrina the Teenage Witch but with a much darker twist.

  • I personally am not a big fan of this particular actress playing the part of Sabrina.

  • Batibat looked bad and cheaply made.
